Scrapbooking for Kids: Easy and Quick Ideas

July 20th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Many parents are finding today that putting together scrapbooks is a great hobby that the entire family can enjoy, including young and old. You need to remember that scrapbooking for kids is not like scrapbooking for adults. It’s the same with any activity that you decide to do with your children. You mght have to make some adjustments in how you scrapbook to accomodate the abilities and attention span of children or they may get bored just like they would with any other craft or hobby. How do you involve your children in scrapbooking so they can learn to enjoy it as a hobby just like you do? Here are a few quick tips to consider.

Getting them involved and excited to make their own choices is essential to scrapbooking for children. Allow them to choose the photo or other page element that you will be using as the main focal point and have them choose the theme or colors too. You might think that bold colors or soft pastels would be the best choice on a particular page layout, but this activity isn’t about the final product, it is about allowing your children to express their own creativity. Give them as many options and choices as you can and you’ll see that they’re more involved and will enjoy scrapbooking projects with kids more often, as opposed to just telling them what you’ll be doing or working on. Their scrapbook tips & techniques may improve over time but be patient with them and encourage their own creativity.

You will want to remember to keep things basic and simple when scrapbooking for kids. You may be skilled at working in various elements and designs when it comes to your pages, but think of coloring books for children. The drawings in coloring books are very basic in their shapes, colors, designs, and so on. Keep your pages simple as well when considering scrapbooking for kids. Stick to basic shapes like circles, diamonds, hearts, squares, and triangles, and basic designs like bumblebees, flowers, the sun, stars, sailboats, and things like these. You can use stencils or allow them to draw these things freehand but be careful about being too critical of their work.

Scrapbooking is a great hobby for anyone and everyone. It is creative, affordable and a fun activity to do when you are stuck inside on a rainy day! But when you’re enjoying  diy scrapbooking with kids it’s a good idea to allow them take the lead in their scrapbooks and really express themselves so they enjoy it as much as you do!

Know The Fact About Divorce Custody Law - It Can Never Be A Case Of One Rule Fits All

July 20th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Divorce is deeply traumatic to everyone involved, not just the husband and wife who wish to separate. All children born from that marriage will be affected and that is why provision must be made for them. Human beings are each different and our circumstances differ greatly. Therefore it is not possible to have a single stipulated divorce custody law that can cover every unique case.

If this was possible, most divorce attorneys would be out of a job. Instead, divorce custody law is seen as a blanket that covers all the issues pertaining to custody. It is under this blanket that each issue has to be addressed separately as each case presents itself. Divorce custody law has as its ultimate goal to work in the best interests of the child or children. This means that throughout the whole divorce process where there are children involved, the divorce custody law will make provision for the children as first responsibility, not the parents.

Divorce Custody Law: Children Are The Top Priority

Divorce custody law has changed radically over the past decades. There was a time when children were automatically seen as the property of the father with no room for negotiation. As time went on it became clear that most often children would fare better being placed with their mother. Here again divorce custody law was amended. The world and how issues are addressed has undergone many changes and it is within this modern framework that divorce custody law now functions.

The norm is that under common legal provision both parents have equal right and joint guardianship of children born in that marriage after a divorce. Unluckily the norm is not always the best for the child or children. In such cases divorce custody law can be applied in such a way that there is the choice of several types of child custody. During the divorce process it will be looked at whether temporary custody should be awarded until after the finalization of the divorce.

Then it will be decided whether exclusive custody to one parent is advisable or whether joint custody will be the most beneficial to the child or children. Divorce custody law also makes provision that custody could be awarded to a third party. The wishes of both the parents and the wishes of the child will be looked by court. In the end a decision will be made through divorce custody law that is in the best interests of the child. This includes the child’s wellbeing in the home and community, schooling and religious education as well as his or her physical health and mental wellbeing.

An incredibly important influencing factor in ensuring that your skin continues to look young healthy and vibrant is to start a regular skin care plan. In their desperate search for the fountain of youth our scientists have created all types of skin care products for us to use. Wild and wonderful claims are often delivered about the amazing results from applying it often. Annoyingly these claims are most likely simply false and little or no, real, evidence actually exists. As more of us turn to the Internet in the hope that we find a treatment or product to sustain our good looks, more of us are fooled by this style of advertising. Sadly skin care and microdermabrasion companies are often as guilty of this practice as others.

keeping a regular skin care plan is just the first step in hitting the targets of young and healthy, healthy and young looking skin. Often we need to go that little bit further and acquire something that works for us. In years gone by this meant cosmetic surgery but amazingly this is no longer required because microdermabrasion is available.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that is famous for it’s brilliant results. Unfortunately many of the microdermabrasion web sites, in their attempts to persuade visitors to use their services and treatments at their spa, aesthetic clinic or beauty salon, display images which are not exactly a true representation of the results gained there. It is, therefore, incredibly important to make enquiries to find out the true degrees of their talents. One of the easiest and best ways to do this is to simply request examples of the results which prior customers experienced and also for any recommendations made by such. You should ask family members, colleagues and friends if they have heard of their reputation or have had treatment there. If it is true that they have a good reputation then it is most probable that they also gain good results from microdermabrasion.

If you are planning to get |book yourself a series of microdermabrasion treatments there is a variety of factors of which you should know of, especially in respect of after or before microdermabrasion. Before your treatments begin you will have a consultation with your beautician who will examine your skin and decide upon the most effective pretreatment. For treatments of microdermabrasion it is commonly the case that you are told that you should use some of their products and incorporate them into your regular skin care regime.

After microdermabrasion treatments you may appear a a slight amount of reddish in the face. Do not fret because this is common and it will soon pass. Importantly you should not show your skin to too much sun after microdermabrasion because the skin is sensitive and could be damaged.

The Various Uses of Essential Oils and Herbs

July 19th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

For thousands of years the human race has utilized herbs in a variety of ways. These uses can be categorized into three distinctive groups; religious, culinary and medicinal. In the article below we shall take a close look at each of these categories in order focusing upon the medicinal uses and essential oils.

Throughout history there have been numerous other uses of herbs which we will not be examining here and these include them being used instead of money, as a disinfectant and as a perfume or powerful smell to mask bad smells. Herbs come from various parts of the globe and each race commonly had unusual uses for them. It is interesting to note that the Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greek and Sumerians, the Romans all wrote about them in detail and other writings exist from Ancient India and China. We shall be focusing on modern uses.

Herbs And Religion

Herbs are still used in various religions across the planet.  Many Christians will recognize myrrh from the Nativity (myrrh is the dried sap of Commiphora myrrha). Hindus will be extremely familiar with the Tulsi plant, which is a type of Basil, as it is grown by many and praised as a Goddess. In Wiccan religions herbs are utilized extensively in spells, rituals as well as for healing.

Herbs In Cooking

The leaves of various plants are used in cooking but there is a distinction between leafy vegetables, such as spinach, and a herb, such as basil, in that the latter are used in very small amounts due to their distinctive, and powerful flavor. Virtually every person on the planet has benefited from the these amazing plants which are capable of lifting the blandest meal into the realms of a culinary masterpiece.

The Medicinal Uses of Herbs

As well as being powerful in flavor a herb can also have a profound effect upon the human body. Some types are used as recreational drugs, such as cannabis, which can cause legal problems as they can also have useful medical properties which are still being examined by accademics.

Essential Oils

An essential oil is the substance extracted from a variety of plants. Essential oils are invariably produced by the method known as distillation but some require a different method of extraction such as expression or solvent extraction.

Essential oils have a number of uses, such as perfumes, bath oils, flavorings, burning (for scent) and in cleaning products. However most people know of their use in medicine and especially in aromatherapy and other forms of alternative medicine. I use lavender oil in a variety of ways, I add it to my mixture for my oil burner to make the room smell nice but I also use approximately three drops in a bath when I suffer from aching limbs. When my limbs are very painful I gently massage it into the muscles but only when it is mixed with a carrier oil. As well as helping to relax the muscles it also helps me sleep more soundly.

Herbs should be handled with immense care as some can be extremely toxic to the human body (in large quantities). Special care should be taken if you are about to have a baby as something that you may consider safe can be surprisingly problematic, such as peppermint oil which should never be used in its dilute state. However spearmint and a few other mild oils can be used but to avoid the risk of miscarriage you should avoid all herbs and essential oils unless you know for definite they are safe.

The awesome thing about herbs is that growing your own is as hard as buying a herb kit and placing it near a window. To discover more visit http://store.landscapinginfo4u.com/

How To Control Acne Outbreaks

July 19th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Acne has, over the years, been the cause of an incredible amount of heartache, especially amongst teenagers. However acne is not a disease restricted to just this age group as the problem can persist well into adulthood and even appear in adults who had note previously suffered from the affliction.

The vast majority of women are shocked to discover that they can suddenly develop acne during pregnancy. My husband was rather alarmed when pimples started to appear on my face as I had not even had spots during my teenage years. To be honest I think that my skin never really recovered as I continued to have acne outbreaks for many years until I learnt how to bring them under control and reduce the frequency of them dramatically. Although there are periods when I get the odd pimple or two I can usually stop it progressing to a full outbreak with just a little care and attention to the way I treat it.

Although many people say that not washing your face is not the cause of acne I would say that having a good skin care regime is paramount to success in the fight against pimples. I have, through trial and error, discovered that if I keep my skin clean and healthy I have fewer spots appearing. Therefore, if you suffer from acne prone skin, I strongly advise you cleanse your skin deeply every day followed by the use of an astringent or toner (which closes the pores after cleansing).

When choosing which skin cleansers and toners to use you need to ensure that you match the skin care product with your skin type. This is extremely important as some skin care products, especially if they have been formulated for greasy skin, are simply far to harsh for sensitive dry skin.

An alternative way in which you can massively minimize the risks of an acne breakout is by having regular skin care treatments such as microdermabrasion or a mild chemical peel. These treatments were developed as anti-aging skin care treatments but it has been scientifically proven that they can have a dramatic effect upon acne prone skin vastly reducing the risk of outbreaks and bringing acne quickly under control. However you should never have such a treatment on areas where there is active acne.

If, after you have tried the above, you discover that you still have zits appearing on your face then it may be time to try something a little more aggressive. If you are only suffering from it a little then it is perfectly reasonable to try some of the over the counter remedies. Sometimes these products can nip the problem in the bud. Commonly such products are topical and contain such active ingredients as benzoyl peroxide but only in very small solutions of between 2.5 and 10%. Other active ingredients include sulfur and salicylic acid (sulfur has been successfully used in the treatment of skin problems for over 50 years.

If, sadly, your acne persists you should really seek further medical advice by visiting your family doctor who will be able to prescribe acne treatments which are far more powerful than those available over the counter. Sometimes a short course of antibiotics will bring an outbreak under control within a few days. Alarmingly it is far too common to find that doctors prescribe antibiotics for acne even before trying to halt it using other proven methods and treatments first. While this will make the patient happy it is now widely accepted that the overuse of such drugs can only lead to problems. It therefore seems most logical to try the simple things first well before you try anything else.
